Having the flu when Covid-19 is around is scary

It now seems that I only had a flu — I still have it as in headaches and muscle aches.

Although it logically makes sense to look back and decide that it was “just” the flu passing by, it is frightening when you don’t know.

My near neighbour was getting tested at the time. Her partner had returned from Germany three weeks ago, and her 8-year-old son developed a cough and a runny nose. I learnt yesterday that their 3 tests came back negative. Apparently there was a thing going around at her son’s school.

I had headaches and hot flushes and was weak enough to need to rest often, but I did not qualify for a test. I wrote about it here.

I was quite “logical” most of the time — but there were two nights where my mind started to race and I found it very hard to get a grip and go back to sleep. Covid-19 has a lot of unknowns. You start to convince yourself you have it, even when “you are probably dealing with some other illness”.

I found that it took quite some concentration to step away from it and to settle back into a calmer state — and to get back to sleep. So far, so good.
