The State of Queensland in north-eastern Australia is blessed with beautiful beaches, the Barrier Reef, and large reserves of black coal. They like to do things their own way — such as being determined to build more coal-fired power stations.

The State Premier remained determined to hold Local Government elections this weekend despite repeated warnings from medical specialists about dangers of coronavirus spread. The State has closed its borders to the south and is in the midst of the coronavirus crisis.

Medical experts called it a lethal risk.
